What are the facts about Sexual Assault?
- An adult woman is raped every three minutes.
- Only three out of every ten rapes is reported.
- One is six males will be sexually assaulted by age 18.
- Ninety percent of sexually assaulted children are assaulted by someone they know.
- Sexual assault is a violent abuse of power.
- It is NEVER your fault if you are sexually assaulted!
If it happens to you
- Call the police - you don't have to prosecute. An officer will take you to the hospital.
- Don't wash, douche, urinate, bathe, or change your clothes. If you do, you'll destroy valuable evidence.
- Take a change of clothes with you to the hospital.
