What are the facts about Sexual Assault?

  • An adult woman is raped every three minutes.
  • Only three out of every ten rapes is reported.
  • One is six males will be sexually assaulted by age 18.
  • Ninety percent of sexually assaulted children are assaulted by someone they know.
  • Sexual assault is a violent abuse of power.
  • It is NEVER your fault if you are sexually assaulted!

If it happens to you

  • Call the police - you don't have to prosecute. An officer will take you to the hospital.
  • Don't wash, douche, urinate, bathe, or change your clothes. If you do, you'll destroy valuable evidence.
  • Take a change of clothes with you to the hospital.
