| Northern Illinois Hospice Association (NIHA) provides superior, compassionate, multi-disciplinary care for dying people, respectful support for their families and friends, and bereavement services. NIHA pioneered hospice services in Northern Illinois 22 years ago, and has paved the way for the current choice in hospice care, allowing terminal patients to live fully until they die, in their chosen surroundings, and as decision makers in their own care. At NIHA, a specialized nursing staff, social worker, chaplain, admissions and bereavement coordinators, in collaboration with trained volunteers, support the patient and family in skillful pain management, and other physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Clinical staff is always available by phone for patient and family needs. A licensed clinical social worker provides grief services to the schools. Our bereavement services include adult and children's support groups, children's camp, a library, and an expanding list of workshops. |
