Sarah Ban Breathnach
A Daybook of Comfort and Joy
Simple Abundance is a book you will want to give to someone special. (And that can be yourself!) Designed specifically for women, Simple Abundance gives a day by day lesson on appreciating life. It encourages growth, love, self-appreciation and acceptance. It then encourages sharing the new found "abundance" with others.
Although the book is designed to go from January 1st through December 31, I bought my copy in mid-September. Simple Abundance gives daily words and stories of encouragement and insight to touch the heart and soul.
I bought the book for myself but I would have appreciated the giver of such a gift for a very long time. If you want to impress someone with your thoughfulness, put this book at the top of the list.
Some subject headings and insights from Simple Abundance:
Discovering Your Authenic Self
Harmony:Achieving Balance in Our Lives
Beauty: Opening Our Eyes to the Beauty That Surrounds Us.
The Art of Puttering
How to Cook a Wolf
And some quotes to inspire:
"My business is not to remake myself, but to make the absolute best of what God made. -- Robert Browning
"Always be a first-rate version of yourself instead of a second-rate version of someone else."-- Judy Garland
"We can't take credit for our talents. It's how we use them that counts." --Madeleine L'Engle
"We are not human beings trying to be spiritual. We are spiritual beings trying to be human. -- Jacquelyn Small
This book is filled with so many thought-provoking readings that what I find most difficult is -- to read it as it was intended, which is one day at a time. It is written to last an entire year, the problem is I'm not sure I will be able to read just a little at a time. If I have any hope of lasting, I'd better find and read the section on patience!
